Drug intelligence / Profile preview
[18F]altanserin is a radioligand used in positron emission tomography (PET) imaging for the visualization and quantification of serotonin 2A (5-HT2A) receptors in the brain. It is a fluorine-18 labeled version of altanserin, which is a potent and selective 5-HT2A receptor antagonist with >100-fold selectivity over D2/3 receptors. The compound is administered intravenously as a bolus injection and allows researchers to measure changes in endogenous serotonin levels in the brain.
